The POS machine may fail to turn on after extended storage. You can troubleshoot the issue by considering the following points provided by UIPOS:
1. If the POS machine has been kept in a humid or high-temperature environment, the electronic components inside may have oxidized, especially around the power interface and circuit connection points on the motherboard. After connecting the power supply, check if the power adapter indicator is functioning correctly and listen for any self-test sounds when the POS machine is turned on.
2. Long-term storage can lead to oxidation, static buildup, or data loss in the memory module, potentially causing startup failure. If the POS machine doesn’t turn on, you might try unplugging and reinserting the memory module after powering off or restarting the device to initiate a system self-test. Be cautious when handling the memory, taking care to avoid static discharge, and it’s advisable to photograph the configuration beforehand to ensure correct reassembly.
3. The motherboard is the core of the POS system, connecting various components and ensuring smooth operation. Extended periods of non-use may lead to startup issues. Due to its complexity, UIPOS advises against disassembling the motherboard on your own. Contacting a qualified technician or your POS machine manufacturer for assistance.
If the POS machine is not used for a long time, UIPOS recommends that you store it in a dry and dark environment to prevent moisture from entering the machine body and causing oxidation or damage to electronic components, and to avoid high temperature exposure and damage to components such as LCD.
